Admissions appeals timetable

2019/20 ACADEMIC YEAR

• Appeals for St Bonaventure’s Catholic Primary School are arranged by the Clifton Diocese Schools and Colleges Department which is independent of the school.
• Offers of a school place will be made by the child’s home Local Authority on behalf of the school, on 16 April 2019.
• If you wish to appeal against a decision to refuse admission, you must lodge your appeal by the deadline for lodging appeals i.e. by 17 May 2019.
• Those who appeal will be notified of the confirmed time, date and venue of the hearing at least 10 school days before the actual hearing date.
• For applications made in the normal admissions round appeals for a place at St Bonaventure’s Catholic Primary School will be heard between 10 June 2019 and 19 July 2019.
• For late applications, appeals will be heard within 40 school days from the deadline for lodging appeals where possible, or within 30 school days of the appeal being lodged.
• For applications for in-year admissions, appeals will be heard within 30 school days of the appeal being lodged.
• The Clerk to the Appeal Panel will send to all parties copies of all the required papers at least 7 days before the confirmed date of the hearing.
• Evidence from the school and any additional evidence from appellants should be provided to Clerk to the Appeal Panel at least 8 days before the confirmed hearing date. The Appeal Panel will decide if it will consider any evidence provided less than 8 days in advance.
• The Clerk to the Appeal Panel will send decision letters informing parents of the outcome of the appeal within 5 school days of the last hearing date for the school wherever possible.
• Appeals received after the deadline for the receipt of appeals cannot be guaranteed to be heard on the same date(s) as on-time appeals but will be heard in accordance with the Department for Education’s published School Admission Appeals Code.
