Covid-19 School Arrangements

GETTING TO SCHOOL/PARKING

  • Please do not use the Church car park there is too much people traffic for safe use.
  • We would ask those who can, to walk, or park and walk to/from school.  Please see our 5 minute walk zone

IN THE MORNING:

  • Please can only 1 parent/carer drop off/collect children.
  • Please can parents/carers wear a face covering whilst on school site.
  • Please keep children with you whilst waiting to come into school.
  • At the front gate, at drop off, years 1, 2 and 3 classteachers will make themselves visible outside their classrooms so that the children in those classes can easily identify which door they are heading to once they come through the gate.
  • At the back gate, at drop off, years 4, 5 and 6 will have separate class lines.
  • Please remind older siblings that, once they have dropped off their younger siblings, they need to follow the arrows in the corridors and stick to the one way system to avoid crossing paths with other year groups.
  • Please DO NOT drop children off at the gates for them to come in on their own. We need to run screening questions with all families. If your child walks to school on their own, we will need you to complete a ‘Covid Permission to walk to school’ form.

If you are more than ten minutes late to drop off or collect your child please report to the school office.

WHAT CHILDREN NEED IN SCHOOL

  • Please put all belongings in 1 bag and make sure it, and its contents are labelled.
  • We are having to operate a zero tolerance approach to lost property so PLEASE ensure all items are named to avoid losing them. Once a week we will be removing all unnamed items left on school premises.  Parents will not be permitted in school to look for items.

THROUGHOUT THE DAY – HOW DO WE KEEP YOUR CHILDREN SAFE?

  • Regular hand washing and cleaning of surfaces throughout the school day.
  • Classroom furniture to be arranged to minimise risk of infection.
  • Safe routes around the school used including one way system, external entrances used wherever possible and allocated toilets for each group of children.
  • Staggered break and lunch times with a minimum number of children accessing the dining hall and allocated zones for playing.
  • Allocated adults for each pod to cover breaks and lunch supervision.
  • Younger children will not be expected to socially distance from each other but all children will be encouraged to socially distance from adults in school.
  • Maximise the use of outside space for learning.
  • Visitors will not be able to access the site without an appointment.  Anyone with an appointment must use the hand sanitizer on entry and wear a face covering.
  • If there is a confirmed case of Covid19 within a year group pod, that year group pod will be closed for 14 days and all adults and children sent home to self-isolate for that period with a return to online provision.

UNIFORM/PE KIT

  • Children will be required to wear school uniform but we would ask that you send your child to school wearing trainers or daps as children will not be getting changed for PE in term 1.
  • It therefore may be appropriate for KS2 girls to wear a skort, culottes or gym pants under their skirt/dresses on PE days.

WHAT TO DO IF MY CHILD IS ILL OR HAS COVID SYMPTOMS

  • Please see NHS guidance for advice as to whether your child is too ill for school:

https://www.nhs.uk/live-well/healthy-body/is-my-child-too-ill-for-school/  Alternatively,  look at the 'Whether to Keep Your Child off School' document attached.

  •  If you are not sure if your child has Covid symptoms please use the online tool:
https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/coronavirus-covid-19/symptoms/  Or call 111 (this number is for when you do not know what is wrong with your child)

  • Your child should not come to school if they have covid symptoms.  You should book a test calling on 119 (this is the number you should ring if you know your child has covid symptoms) or go to the website below:

https://self-referral.test-for-coronavirus.service.gov.uk/antigen/name

  • Please report any absences in the usual way, i.e., by leaving a message on our attendance answerphone 0117 3532831 or by email st.bonaventures.p@bristol-schools.uk or through school gateway and letting us know your child will be absent and what their symptoms are, and if you are getting covid testing.  When you get a result through you should email this as confirmation so your child/ren can return to school.
