Reception 2019 - My child has been offered a place ... what next?

 
ASAP:  Inform the Council if you would like to accept your child's place at St Bonaventure's.  They will notify us. 
 
ASAP:  If you feel there is a good reason why your child should be in a particular class (i.e. if you have twins and wish for them to be placed in the same class or if you have an older sibling already in school and would like your reception child to have the same teacher), please do write in to us to let us know.  We always try our best to accommodate parents wishes, but cannot guarantee that this will be the case, in every circumstance.
 
End May 2018:  You will receive a letter inviting you to a Parent Information Evening on Wednesday 19th June at 7pm and attaching an 'Essential Pupil Information Form' for you to complete and return to us asap (letter and form can also be found below). 
 
19th June at 7pm:  Parents Info Evening (children do not attend this session).  You will be informed of who will be your child's teacher, be able to meet them, find out about our part-time induction of reception pupils and what days/times your child will attend school in the first 3 weeks.  You will receive an Introduction Pack which contains all the documentation and information that you will require.  Please can you ensure that the pack of coloured pack of papers is completed and returned to school by Friday 28th June.  There will also be an invite to your child to come and visit school (for approx. an hour) on Wednesday 3rd July.  During the evening you will be able to book a 'one-to-one' 10 minute appointment at the beginning of September to meet with your child's classteacher.  Please note if you are not able to attend this meeting your pack will automatically be sent to you in the post and you will be able to telephone us after the meeting to book your appointment.
 
Booking After School Club and Breakfast Club:  Booking Forms will be contained in your Introduction Pack. 
 
28th June:  Please ensure your colored pack of papers that you received at the Information Evening is returned to the school office by this date to help us to prepare for your child's induction.  Please also note that if your child has a diagnosed allergy then the Food Allergy and Intolerance Form should be returned directly to the catering company (Autograph).
 
3rd July [transition day]:  Your child's visit to their classroom (details contained in invite).  Children are encouraged to play in their new classrooms whilst parents meet in another room on the school site to enjoy a cup of coffee/tea.
 
During July:  Classteachers liaise with pre-schools to arrange visits to see your child in their learning setting (parents have no involvement in this process).  Please note that whilst classteachers endeavour to get around all establishments, this may not always be possible due to timescales. 
 
Week beginning 2nd September:  Parent consultation meetings.
 
Week beginning 9th September:  Your child will start school on a part time basis.  The induction period lasts for 3 weeks.  For the first week, children will attend school for either morning or afternoon sessions.  In week two, those children who did morning sessions in the first week will swap and do afternoons, and the second group vice versa.  In the third week, all children will attend a short day which will include lunch.  The fourth week, they will attend school full time.
 
Morning sessions:  8.50am to 12.10pm
Afternoon sessions:  1.15pm to 3.10pm
Short day including lunch: 8.50am to 1.45pm
