Is my child a young carer?

Many school children take on responsibilities at home for family members or friends who may be ill, disabled or misusing drugs or alcohol. At St Bon’s, we want to make sure that we are able to identify and support our young carers.

We have signed up to the schools programme of a local charity, Carers Support Centre. This gives us access to advice and information as well as helping us signpost parents to further help as necessary. The support also includes enrichment activities.
Young carers in each year group meet with the Head and Deputy Head three times a year to share a hot chocolate and biscuits. We discuss what's going well and identify where they might need additional support. We also use this time to plan well-being activities for our young carers such as a games afternoon or non-uniform day.

If you think your child is a young carer who could benefit from any of the above, please do email the school office
