Meet The Team

Mrs Webber

Play Leader

Mrs Webber is responsible for the day to day management of the After School Club and Holiday Playscheme.
She has a wealth of experience working with children; she has worked in after school and holiday club provisions as well as a background of being a Learning Support Assistant.
Mrs Webber has a Diploma Level 3 in Childcare and Education and has completed many training courses to support her roles.
She is enthusiastic about providing children with high quality activities and play opportunities to extend their development in a safe and nurturing environment, as well as supporting the needs of all families.
She is available to contact via email, phone (Kidzone mobile) or Monday – Friday in the Kidzone base (DT room)
Mrs Webber also works as a School Meals Supervisory Assistant supporting children’s play and social opportunities during their lunch breaks.
When she is not working, Mrs Webber enjoys trying new recipes and spending time outdoors.

Mrs Yaqub

Deputy Playleader

Safia Yaqub is the club's Deputy Playleader with over twenty years' experience in working with children and young people. Safia's background is in primary education and she is an early years specialist. Safia has a wealth of training in relation to play including an NVQ Level 3 in Play and certification in Child Protection, Food and Hygiene, First Aid, Domestic Abuse Awareness and Fire Safety, among other things.

Safia leads the club's children's committee, which she established as a means for the children to take ownership of their after-school club and has worked with the children to complete a cook book. Safia loves to do multi cultural games with the children and is almost always at the centre of any cooking activities.

Miss Thompson

Playworker

Prior to joining KidZone in 2015 Kayley worked in school and early years’ settings across Bristol and came to the Playworker role holding a Level 2 Teaching Assistant qualification. Since joining KidZone Kayley has obtained an NVQ Level 2 in Playwork and received further training in Pediatric First Aid, Child Safeguarding, Food Hygiene and Makaton, among other things. Kayley also works during the school day as an SMSA (school meals supervisory assistant) and covers absence for several LSAs. Like Lloyd before her, Kayley looks to one day become a teacher.

Mr Rodrigues

Playworker

Marcus Rodrigues worked in a variety of roles prior to joining KidZone's team in September, including teaching assistant in schools of Bristol, bicycle mechanic in workshops and events as well as farm volunteer. Apart from the variety of skills Marcus brings to the club, he is also qualified in First Aid, Safeguarding and Food Hygiene. Marcus enjoys running outdoor activities and DIY projects with the children, while he is a keen cyclist and boxer.

Ms Gillespie

Playworker

Miss Gillespie has a degree in psychology from the University of Reading and has experience volunteering in primary schools and collecting data in them for her dissertation. Miss Gillespie also works during the school day as an SMSA. She particularly enjoys running craft activities with the children and is a keen baker, horse rider and reader.

Ms Sandford

Playworker

Mrs Sandford enjoyed 5 years working as a children's party host and tour guide at Bristol Aquarium.
She has an Art Degree and experience of teaching creative workshops at After School Clubs around Bristol.
She has a Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification. She holds a Domestic Violence Awareness certificate and an Inclusive Play certificate. In her spare time she is learning British Sign Language.
Mrs Sandford can usually be found making a mess at the art table or baking table!
