PSHE (personal, social, and health education)

Intent:

At St Bonaventure’s School we believe it is important that many of the skills and attitudes we wish pupils to develop are taught and demonstrated throughout the school in a variety of ways. Pupils will have opportunities to develop their understanding of these issues through:

•                school ethos;
•                assemblies;
•                school trips;
•                extracurricular activities;
•                classroom and playground rules;
•                school council, eco council, energy monitors and school chaplains.

Implementation:

The PSHE curriculum has been carefully designed to help give pupils the skills, knowledge and understanding they need to lead confident, healthy, independent lives and become informed, active, responsible members of the community. We have chosen to use materials from the Ten Ten – Life to the Full Scheme of work, which has been designed to provide an explicit, structured whole curriculum framework and resources for teaching the social emotional aspects of learning sympathetic to the Catholic faith.

We also use the following:
*  Unique Voice – a tailored lesson structure that supports children’s mental health.
*  Dove (where appropriate) – structured lessons and resources that look at body confidence.

Impact:

Children will be able to have the strategies in place to help them  manage their emotions  and react in an appropriate manner. Using the skills  taught   during the lessons  children will  be able to recognize how they are feeling in order to navigate and react to help themselves and others.
